Update on the Lone Star Odyssey series

Felt it was time to at least give everyone an update on the series. Progress is being made, believe it or not on book 5. I’m looking at the end of April to have out the Kindle, paperback, and hardback, and of course Audible will follow shortly thereafter.

Where is book 4 Audible, you might be asking? It’s coming. That should be out within the next 30 to 45 days.

Real-world events contributed to the delay, but it is back on track and will be out soon.

I really think most of you will like book 5, as with book 4, there is a little more of what is going on with Talon’s family down in Texas. I’ll leave it with that, as I do not want to spoil any surprises for anyone.

So aside from my poor attempts at writing, what does everyone think about what is going on in the real-world? All I can say is that I hope everyone is paying attention and following the old saying, “Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.” Knowledge is power. Read, research, and experiment. You don’t have to go crazy and break the bank to be prepared. Prepare for what you might ask? I’m not talking armageddon here, that’s between you and God. I’m talking about natural disasters and man-made issues.

You don’t have to run out and spend 500.00 on a Royal Berkey Water Filter with (4) Black Berkey Elements right off the bat. That should be the goal, but you can get a 100 Gallon Water Tank, Foldable Portable Water Bob, Large Capacity Soft Water Bladder Storage Container for 50.00 and a Sawyer SP124 MINI Water Filtration System, that is rated for 100,000 gallons for another 50.00.

But with thought in mind, how many of you have actually had your tap water tested? Hmmm… do I need to remind you of Flint, Michigan?

Or spend a little extra on an extra bag of rice or beans once a month. If you don’t like rice or beans, then buy something you do like that is shelf-stable. Mark it with the date and rotate it out so it doesn’t go to waste. You’re not building a space ship, you just want to be prepared in case of an emergency.

You don’t have to have a cold storage room built into your house or apartment. Although that’s not a bad thing if you have the resources to do that. But if you spread it out over three or four months, it doesn’t cost that much to stock up on a month’s worth of emergency food.

You owe it to your family and yourself. Drop a comment to me and let me know what everyone is thinking about.

Take care and be safe,

S/F

  2. Thanks for the practical tips on preparing. Now I’m planning on specific purchases instead of vague wishes. Love the books. Keep them coming.
