LSO #4

Wounded while retaking the Armory, Talon’s recovery is slow and painful. Unaware that his family in Texas is having to deal with similar situations from within their own community. With still no action or assistance from the Federal or State governments, each community must deal with daily shortages of their basic needs. Civilization and civility have been replaced with every person for themselves. Lawlessness and chaos are the new normal. Large population centers have, for the most part, become unsustainable. Talon pushes himself relentlessly to regain enough strength to resume his journey. Every decision takes on more importance as the world falls deeper into anarchy.

Lone Star Odyssey series

After over 20 years in the USMC and coming off a five-year tour as a contractor in Afghanistan, all Talon Clark wanted to do was spend time with his kids and wife on his ranch in Texas. Occasionally, taking a short-term contract job to pay the bills, Talon is marooned in Washington, D.C., when the nation is attacked by a series of false flag operations against our infrastructure and is then devastated by a series of EMP attacks. With every major city burning and the nation’s electrical grid down, civil order has deteriorated to the point of no return, at least for the immediate future.
Separated by over 1400 miles from his family, Talon sets out on foot to get home as fast as he can relying on his skills and experience. The obstacles are adding up against Talon, but he is determined that nothing will stop him from getting home to his family.

LSO #5

Talon is just trying to get home as quickly as possible. Still recovering from recent wounds, Talon and his small group are heading for the Ohio River in the hopes of gaining transportation downriver. But inadvertently becoming a target for retribution after saving two young kids from a marauding gang. With no intention of becoming involved in the local power struggle, Talon’s small group decides to change their plans and head straight for the Ohio River. Instead, they attempt to cross the vast rugged mountains of West Virginia on horseback to throw off their pursuers. The consequences of their attempts to avoid conflict inadvertently lead them straight into the middle of the local power struggle.

5.0 out of 5 stars I read it for free, then paid for it. David Wilson deserved such respect.

I love Unlimited. My monthly Amazon “dues” provides abundant research and entertainment. Lots of times I’ll start a novel, give it 50 pages to “hook me”, and then return it.

As soon as I finished this (basically one sitting; with some breaks) I paid the (measly) price. This is a “keeper”, and I’ll read it more than once. Actually, if it’s ever offered in paperback, I’ll buy that too.

The author gives us that rare “TEOTWAWKI” tale–part thriller; part “shopping list”; part strategy prep; and part…warning. I, for one, fear neither the Zombies nor plagues which inhabit the pages of so many novels. But I do, seriously, fear the deep-laid plans and limitless enmity of the cults and madmen of the Middle East (and elsewhere). They have already cost our nation “blood and treasure” which staggers the mind, and they are an ongoing “existential threat”. If they can, they will carry out attacks as described by this author.

Other reviewers have done well praising Mr. Wilson. He’s got talent. Breakneck pacing; uncommon characters; a gift for description–it’s all here. But he also possesses a “view/attitude/warning” which the best PAW writers share. That is the terrible truth that few Americans have either a mind set, or imagination, or simple grasp of our nation’s peril to understand that WHEN not IF we face a national crisis, those who fail to react decisively and immediately, because they expect “the government” to show up any moment (“Hi, we’re from the government and we’re here to help.”) will have a remaining life span of days; or perhaps even merely hours.

After reading the first Lone Star Odyssey Book, I couldn’t wait to read the next one! It starts off quick and rarely lets up. Just like the first Book, this one has plenty of realistic Tactics and Procedures dealing with everything from CQB Shooting, Covering Fire and actual survival techniques that anyone, be they a Prepper, amateur or serious professional, can easily learn from. If you want to be entertained AND prepare for the End of the World as We Know It, this Novel must be on your shelf!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story

What I like about this story is the realism of the encounters and outcomes. First getting outfitted with equipment found at any outdoor goods store and traveling by bicycle. Makes perfect sense. Crazy, backstabbing liberal women – check. Whining, entitled college students – check. Evil, corrupt, domineering government bureaucrats with guns – check. Good guys using tactical common sense and adapting – also what is reasonable to expect in the aftermath of an attack. The ball busting banter also reads authentic. Very entertaining.

  1. Hi David.

My name is Bryce Boucher. I am also an author. I was recently called by a guy claiming to be you. He was promoting a company out of Santa Fe called Fynest360. This guy told me Fynest360 had helped him (i.e. you) to promote your Lone Star Odyssey books. For many reasons I thought this guy was a fake and impersonating you. I wanted you to have this information in case he is a fraud, which I suspect he is. As you no doubt know, it is hard enough to generate sales without being scammed by these characters. Unfortunately, I am learning that finding real promotion guys in this business is not so easy.

If you were, in fact, the man who called me, wonderful. But I don’t think it was you and I believe somebody is out there using your name to legitimize their pitch and you should know about it.

By the way, your books look great. I will have to order them. If these guys are phonies, they accidentally gave you a little free publicity LOL.

I hope this information is valuable to you.

    Cheers,

    Bryce Boucher
