Update on LSO 4 & 5

Sorry that it’s been so long since I had the time to update everyone. First I what to say thank you to everyone for all the support. Because of your support the LSO Series is doing well. As an independent writer and producer it’s always a struggle to find the time and resources to get my books to market. My family life and day job leaves little time to write, much less edit, which is frequently and justifiably pointed out to me. While the series is doing surprisingly well on the Amazon best sellers lists, that doesn’t pay the bills. But than again if I was doing this for the money alone I would have stopped after the first book.

I enjoy writing and the reviews show there are at least a fair number of people that are enjoying following the adventures of Talon and his friends. I must admit I also want to find out how the story ends, and the only way any of us will ever find out is for me to finish the story. And I am working on it. Hopefully if all goes well, LSO 5 will be out in time for Christmas (that’s this Xmas).

The next question I always get is 5 the end of the story. Hmmm, I wish I knew that too. I never set out to write a long series about one storyline, but I don’t have much control over where the story takes me. I grew up reading Louis L’Amour. Not that I’m comparing my meager skills to his, but like him, I just tell a story. Hope everyone continues to enjoy the story. If you get the chance, drop me a line with any comments.

Growing up in the Ozarks, David spent a great deal of his time growing up with his Grandfather, learning how to fish, hunt, and trap. Additionally, he learned many of the old skills such as how to hold a star drill (which by the way I would not do for anyone now that my Grandfather is gone), hack a rail road tie and how to make hand made shake shingles. Joining the Marine Corps (0341) at the age of 17, he enjoyed his time in the grunts, but switched over to Counterintelligence after picking up Sergeant. Staying with the USMC for just over 20 years, he retired in 1998 at the age of 38, attaining the rank of CWO-2. After retiring he has worked for a few different government agencies and as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan. Still active as a contractor, he enjoys writing in what spare time he can find, with his first published book coming out in May 2019, “Lone Star Odyssey”. His second book in the series should be out late fall 2019. Living in Texas with his wife and kids, most of his time outside of work is spent with his wife and kids, their horses and dogs, and with repairs around the ranch.

    1. Sir, I appreciate the offer put all I can offer in return would be free copies (Hardback) and a free Audible copy when they come out. I tried a couple of editors (paid) and the copy I got back was not the book I sent them. They both attempted to re-write the whole thing and really killed the whole tone of the book. I know my books are not perfect but people, especially long term military people don’t speak perfect English all the time. I’m just looking for errors. Then and than, mistakes and misspellings.
      If that’s something you are willing to help with and I’m open to suggestions to, then I’ll send you advance copies to look over. Thanks, DKW

      1. I would enjoy helping you with errors and misspelling. My offer of free help comes with no strings attached

        I have found using a WORD document with track changes works well because it allows you to make the change/s (and track them) as well as gives you the ability to track changes

        I have helped another author with his first book and it was mostly with errors, spelling and plot points that didn’t match what had gone before.

        I use my talents to help people and all I ask is for them to use their talents to help others.

  2. Enjoy the books. If you are struggling with the copy editing, it’s what I do daily for a government contractor. There are a few authors I do this for as well. Best news is I do it for free, if you are interested.  Be well,Don

  4. Just want you to know that I appreciate all your transparency about your writing. I love to hear how all of it is going and I am happy when you say this Christmas…Yay! I am hoping that eventually the books will start to pay the bills on some level for your family. Thanks for continuing to write about Tallon and the rest. I love reading about them all.
